Gérard Meurant holds a Master’s degree from the Erg (École de Recherche Graphique) in Brussels (BE). His artistic approach consists in extracting the essence of images by exploring printing techniques and their variable media to assess their impact on collective consciousness. Through an approach that could be described as “pixel semantics”, he sees each pixel as a deposit of meaning to be exploited, going beyond their computational nature to reveal a deeper interpretation of images. In this way, he transforms his works into vectors of multiple meanings, blurring the boundaries between figuration and abstraction. Alongside his commitment to the visual arts, he is also involved in electronic music as a composer and performer of Techno.

UV prints on survival blankets are abused portraits. Printed on this medium, these images are destined to crumble over time, expressing preservation and inevitable metamorphosis. An inclination to blend into nature. Framing acts as the fulcrum of this tension, while a form of computational spirituality emerges from this quest to capture the emotional essence behind each pixel.
