“Main d’œuvre”

Élie Bolard (FR) is developing a practice focused on contemporary technologies, interested in how they work and questioning the monopoly of technical knowledge. His installations and sculptures combine clumsy DIY and industrial language in their formal repertoire. Centered on the almost trivial, everyday human gesture, his works are motorized and intrinsically sonorous: we visually perceive the electronics, we hear the mechanisms. Autonomous machines come to life, inviting us to consider them in their own essence.

Élie Bolard (Pontarlier, 1999) lives and works in Brussels. After studying at the Villa Arson (Nice), he now manages the Fablab at the iMal Art Center for Digital Cultures & Technology. Since 2018, he has been exhibiting, participating and giving workshops in Belgium and France. “Main d’œuvre” is the first exhibition devoted exclusively to his work.
